Reclaimed Pine floorboards are by far the most demanded flooring choice at Trunk. Our current batch of reclaimed floorboards were salvaged from a local bonded warehouse and they are in stunning condition. The boards are T&G and can be supplied individually for period flooring repairs or as quantities for entire new or replacement flooring projects. The colour is as to be expected in old Pine flooring, offering a rich red/yellow with characteristic figuring and knotting. The finished appearance of reclaimed pine floorboards will depend on the degree of on-site sanding and the type of finish applied. Please call us to discuss your requirements.
Pitch pine was a more beautiful & more durable timber compared to the new Pitch which is still imported today. Reclaimed Pitch pine is often as hard as a good quality hardwood new oak flooring, so don’t be fooled by it being classed as a softwood, its anything but! Our wide boards are selected and then re-sawn from reclaimed joists into a 25 mm thick floorboard, from 5″ wide and up to 11″ wide. They can also measure up to 20 feet long! We offer a planed finish with a T&G edge or a straight edge.
Our reclaimed oak floorboards are usually reclaimed in a variety of ways. Either old boards that need a bit of TLC or re-sawn from old oak beams. The secret to this is to protect and retain the antique patina built up over the centuries. It is that each board is totally unique and gives that individual end result you crave. The finished colour and degree of patination or rusticity can be adjusted within the finishing process. The depth of colour and quality of finish depends on the final sand and finish.
All of our timber is sourced from local demolition projects such as Churches, Schools, Houses or Old Army Barracks.
Reclaimed wood is the most environmentally friendly option you can choose. The character, patina and density cannot be matched using new speed grown inferior timbers.
